Biography

Between 1992-99, defender Salvatore Metrecano scored four goals in 155 Serie A appearances with Foggia, AC Parma, Napoli, Udinese and Perugia. He won no domestic honours, but did win the European Cup-winners’ Cup and European Super Cup with Parma in 1993. He retired as a player in the 2002/03 season, and then went into coaching with Perugia Calcio, Foligno Calcio and Paganese Calcio, all in Serie C.

On the international stage, Matrecano never won a full cap, but won four under-23, and 12 under-21 caps. He was in the Italian squad that won the 1992 European Under 21 Championship, and also competed at the Barcelona Olympics that year, where he played in three matches.
