Shogo Kamo

Shogo Kamo started playing at the Hamamatsu First Junior High School together with his brother Takeshi. He then went to Waseda First High School and graduated from the School of Science and Engineering of the Waseda University. At the Berlin Olympics in 1936 he played both matches for Japan as left wing. In the match against Sweden, Japan pulled one back when he scored his team’s first goal just four minutes into the second half. His elder brother Takeshi was also part of the squad. Two years after the Olympics, he helped Waseda to win the Japanese Championship, the 18th Emperor’s Cup.

After graduating, he joined Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, where he was appointed director of the company’s Sagamihara Plant. He died at the age of 60 from a heart attack after watching the pre-game warm-up of a soccer match.
