Football midfielder Rahim Abdullah began his career with Penang FA in 1966 before spending a season with Perek FA, winning the Malaysia Cup with the latter in 1970. Rahim then joined Selangor FA where he won four more Malaysia Cups (1971–73, 1975). From 1968 to 1973 he also represented the Malaysian national football team, including playing in the match against West Germany at the 1972 München Olympics. One year later he was part of the squad that won the Merdeka Tournament after they beat Kuwait 3–1 in the final.
Away from the game Rahim was a police officer who coached his squad’s side. Following a long career as a coach he was ultimately appointed to lead the national team in 1991. In 2004 he was inducted into the Olympic Council of Malaysia’s Hall of Fame.
