Biography

The son of a Worthing upholsterer, Thomas Hooper was a member of the local fire service for over 20 years, firstly with the Broadwater Brigade and then the Worthing Brigade. Hooper was a good footballer and was the captain of Worthing Athletic FC (the forerunner of Worthing FC), and was also a well-known local runner. Hooper had a variety of jobs ranging from a boot shop salesman, to caretaker, and house painter.
