Biography

Roberto Figueroa was a left winger with a flair for goal scoring – he scored six in nine games for the national team. Figueroa was among the Uruguayan heroes at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics, scoring Uruguay’s first goal in the final replay against Argentina after an assist from Pedro Scarone. He also had second and third place finishes at the Copa America, in 1927 and 1929, respectively. At club level, he was for years a leader of the Montevideo Wanderers.
