Biography

Mike Ivanow was a goalkeeper who played at the University of San Francisco. In addition to his 1972 Olympic appearance, Ivanow earned 10 caps for the US national team between 1973-75. In 1974 Ivanow became the starting goalkeeper for the San Jose Earthquakes of the North American Soccer League, moving to the Seattle Sounders in 1976. He was traded to the California Surf in 1979, but played with the Sounders again in 1980-81, retiring after that season.

Ivanow was always involved in business while playing professional soccer, setting up numerous companies including co-founding and managing a credit union in San Francisco while playing with the Earthquakes. He later became a sales manager for Jaguar of Bellevue, Washington.
