Biography

Matt McKeon was a midfielder who played in college at Saint Louis University. He was a three-time All-American and in his senior year was awarded the Hermann Trophy as the nation’s top collegiate player. He was the first overall pick in the 1996 MLS Draft, going to the Kansas City Wizards. McKeon played his entire career in MLS, most of it with the Wizards, although he spent part of 1999 with the Colorado Rapids. He retired after the 2002 season with the Wizards.

McKeon played for the US at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Internationally he earned two caps, both coming at the 1999 Confederations Cup. After his playing days ended, McKeon became a director of youth soccer and coached several teams in St. Louis.
