Biography

Ed Souza played for Ponta Delgada of Fall River, Massachusetts, helping them win the US Open Cup in 1947. He also was on their teams that won the National Amateur Cup in 1947 and 1950, and won that title again in 1951, by then playing with Brooklyn German-Americans. Souza was a forward who earned six caps for the United States, including playing in the 1950 World Cup victory over England, often considered the greatest upset in World Cup history.
