Biography

Horst Stemke was a defender who attended the University of Wisconsin at Green Bay from 1970-73. He played for the US at the 1967 and 1971 Pan American Games, and was an alternate to the 1968 Olympic team, in addition to his appearance at the 1972 München Olympics. Stemke then returned to Green Bay where he coached youth soccer and became the soccer coach at Preble High School. He is a member of the University of Wisconsin Green Bay Hall of Fame, inducted in 1993, and the Wisconsin Adult Soccer Association, inducted in 1989. His son, Kevin Stemke, was a punter in the NFL for three years (2002-04) with various clubs.
