Glaukos also won twice at Pythia, and eight times at Nemea and Isthmia. A poet wrote of him, “Not even Polydeukes could stand against him, nor the son of Alkmene wielding his iron club in his hands.” In the final, Glaukos was about to quit, when his trainer shouted to him, “One for the plough.” This referred to the day when, as a boy on his father’s farm, Glaukos had straightened a bent plough-share with one punch of his fist.
