Sostratos of Sikyon was known as the akrochersites, or “wrestler who broke his opponent’s fingers.” He would squeeze and bend his opponent’s fingers and not let them go until they would yield. In addition to his Olympic victories, he won twelve victories at Nemea and Isthmia and two at Pythia. His portrait was placed on certain coins of Sikyon.
