Biography

East German gymnast Gabi Fähnrich won the team bronze medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Individually, she finished 25th and did not reach any apparatus final. She also won team bronzes at the 1983, 1985, and 1987 World Championships. Her greatest moment came in 1985 when she won the uneven bars world title.

Her only national title was won on the uneven bars in 1985. Fähnrich was a trained cosmetician. After German re-unification, she became a doping victim as she was given substances as part of the systematic state doping in the former GDR.
