Biography

As an amateur boxer Patrice Aouissi won gold at the 1991 Mediterranean Games in the light-heavyweight category with victory against Roberto Castelli of Italy. A year later Aouissi represented France at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics where he defeated Manuel Verde before losing to Roland Raforme.

Two months after the Olympics Aouissi turned professional with Paris Saint-Germain Boxe. In 1994 he became the French light-heavyweight champion and the European champion at the same weight in 1995. Aouissi retired from the sport in 2000 with a professional record of 24 wins (17 by knock-out) and six defeats. He later worked for the police in Vienne, Isère, in the south east of France and coached at a boxing club in Pont-Évêque.
