After a short career playing basketball, Kostas Dimou became one of the most important referees of the sport in Greece. Dimou officiated in hundreds of matches in a career that spanned two decades, from 1961 until 1981. On the international stage he oversaw matches at the Olympics in München and Moskva, including the women’s final at the latter between the Soviet Union and Bulgaria. He also officiated the final of the 1967 World Championships and multiple editions of both the men’s and women’s EuroBasket tournaments.
