Biography

Birmingham plumber and house decorator Oliver Morris enjoyed success as a gymnast both sides of World War I. A member of the Hockley Hall team, he regularly competed in the national individual and team championships. In 1914, he was in the Birmingham City team that beat Northampton Polytechnic Institute (NPI) into second place to win the Adams Shield, as team champions.

After the War, Morris was in the City of Birmingham team that finished runners-up to NPI in the 1920 Adams Shield. Later that year, however, he was one of nine Birmingham men in the Great Britain squad at the Antwerpen Olympics. Morris also became a gymnastics judge.
