Biography

Joshua Speight was a longtime member, former captain and instructor of the Bradford Gymnastics Club. He was one of five gymnasts from Bradford chosen for the British gymnastics delegation at the 1908 London Olympics, alongside Frank Denby, Leonard Hanson, J. W. Jones and F. Whitaker.

By career, Speight was a police officer, serving as a constable with the Bradford City Police for over 25 years before his retirement in 1930. He also enjoyed sports shooting and swimming, and resided in Bradford until his death in 1952.
