Biography

Mike Beckmann was a member of the West German male gymnastics team that finished a disappointing 12th at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. He finished 60th individually, and failed to reach any apparatus final. He won three national titles.

Beckmann often showed a lack of discipline and subsequent verbal attacks followed. In 1990 he was sentenced to several months’ imprisonment suspended, for causing dangerous bodily harm. The German Gymnastics Federation (DTB) then banned him for three months. Shortly afterwards he retired.
