Francesco Loy was twice a member of the victorious Italian gymnastics squad that took Olympic gold in 1912 and 1920. At the 1911 World Championships, Loy won the team all-around bronze. He represented Italy for the first time in 1911 and was an active gymnast until 1929. In addition, he was a successful track and field athlete and fencer. Loy later served as a judge and also organized national and international events.
