Biography

Phillip Sonntag competed in four events at the 1904 St. Louis Olympics. He competed in the individual all-around (62nd); the individual all-around, apparatus work (73rd); the individual all-around, field sports (43rd); and the team all-around, apparatus work and field sports (8th). Sonntag represented the Davenport Turngemeinde in Davenport, Iowa. Sonntag was a plumber and a freemason. In 1898 when the Spanish-American war started he moved from Davenport to Florida. He died after a long illness from a nervous disease.
