Biography

Right winger Jürgen Hildebrand was on the East German handball team at the 1972 München Olympics that unfortunately lost the bronze medal match, 19-16, against Romania. He earned 173 international caps. Hildebrand won a silver (1974) and a bronze medal (1978) at the World Championships. Domestically, he played with SC Dynamo Halle, SC Dynamo Berlin, and finally BSG Stahl Brandenburg. He later became a full-time coach at the SG Dynamo Brandenburg West training centre.
