Hungarian-born Marianna Rácz was a member of the Austrian female handball team participating in the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics. The team finished fifth with her as the goalkeeper. Rácz, who won the silver medal with Hungary at the 1982 World Championships, won 197 Hungarian international caps and further 113 with Austria.
Domestically, between 1979-88 Rácz played with Vasas SC Budapest in Hungary, and 1989-96 with Hypobank Niederösterreich in Austria, helping them win the European Champions League 1989-90 and 1992-95, the Austrian national title 1989-96, and the Austrian Cup from 1990-96. With Vasa Rácz she also won the European Champions League in 1982, the Hungarian national title 1979-82 and 1984-85, and the Hungarian Cup 1991-93 and 1995.
Rácz later turned to goalkeeper coaching at Hungarian clubs Cornexi Alcoa and Érd HC.
