Biography

Yaro Dachniwsky was a soccer goalkeeper who played professionally, mostly in indoor leagues. He attended the University of Illinois at Chicago, playing there for one year before moving on. He started in 1984 with the Chicago Sting, then played for Wings SC, and the Chicago Croatians. He played with the Chicago Shoccers of the American Indoor Soccer Association, and then was with the Memphis Storm.

In 1988 he moved to the Milwaukee Wave and then the Atlanta Attack of the National Professional Soccer League. In 1992 Dachniwsky joined the Atlanta Magic of the US Indoor Soccer League (USISL), helping them win three consecutive indoor titles. In 1993-94 he was named goalkeeper of the year in the USISL. He later played with the Carolina Vipers and the San Diego Shockers.

From 1994-96 Dachniwsky played for the US Handball National Team, playing at the Atlanta Olympics. He retired from soccer after that stint, when he did not get signed by any teams.

Dachniwsky became a sports executive, first working with the Chicago Fire from 1997-2005 as manager of corporate sales. In 2005 he joined the Chicago Storm as vice-president of business development. He later became a corporate alliance director at Six Flags, and in 2009 was named sports medicine development director at Louis A. Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
