Biography

Extra-lightweight judoka Reinhard Arndt started his career at the age of seven, and in 1968 and 1970 won East German youth titles. In 1977-78 and 1980 he added three senior titles, and also won three bronze medals at the European Championships in those same years. He was therefore selected for the 1980 Moskva Games, but was eliminated after his second bout, and finished a disappointing 13th.

In 1981 Arndt started a coaching career and was employed by the Hohenschönhausen sports center. In 1991, after German re-unification, he was employed by the Olympic Regional Center of Oranienburg, and also worked with his home club SC Dynamo Hoppegarten.
