Austrian 4th dan judoka Manfred Hiptmair participated in the extra-lightweight division at the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics. He was eliminated in the repêchage rounds for the medals and placed tied ninth. Hiptmair won the 1993 World Cup in Leonding and the 1990 Polish Open.
