Biography

Aside from his 1980 Olympic middleweight bronze, Aleksandrs Jackēvičs from Latvia won three European middleweight titles (1978, 1980, 1982). He also won three Soviet middleweight titles (1980, 1982, 1984). After finishing his sporting career Jackēvičs worked as a judo coach, serving as head coach of the Belgian national women’s judo team. He also became vice-president of the Latvian Judo Federation.
