Biography

Jorge Lugo was a Venezuelan judoka. Lugo was the first person to represent Venezuela in judo at the Olympics when he competed in the middleweight category at the 1964 Tokyo Games. Drawn in Pool H he lost both his bouts, to Fernando Costa Matos and eventual gold medal winner Isao Okano, and therefore did not progress any further. In the same year as the Olympics he won bronze at the United States National Championships in New York City. In 1965 Lugo competed at the World Judo Championships and the following year he won a silver medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games.
