Kai Jølver was the last-placed of the modern pentathletes who actually finished the competition at the first edition in Stockholm in 1912. He did not finish in the top 20 in any of the five disciplines.
Kai Jølver was born to bank director Carl Sophus Jensen and Thora Camilla Wognsen. Their children took on the name Jølver in 1903. Kai was a first lieutenant in the infantry, when he married Vera Margrete Francisca Lehmann Weber in 1914. Three years later he was divorced and went to New York. There he married his second wife, the German Ella Antonia Hanna Lichtenfeld, in 1934. Both marriages remained childless. In 1922, his occupation is given as representative.
