Biography

Børge Kaas Andersen rowed coxless fours for Denmark at the 1960 Roma Olympics, but he was far better known in the rowing world for his work as an official and administrator. He later became chairman of the Danish Rowing Association, serving 10 years in that role until 1989. He was made a member of the FISA umpires’ commission in 1973 and served on the FISA Executive Committee. He was also named chairperson of the umpires after the 1988 Seoul Olympics. He was an original member of the FISA Fairness Commission, which resolved disputes in races and regattas with unequal weather and water conditions. Andersen was later a big player politically in the race between Thom Keller and Dennis Oswald for the President of FISA.
