Biography

Edward Bevan was educated at Bedford School and Trinity College, Cambridge but despite rowing at bow in the coxless four which won the Olympic title at Amsterdam in 1928, he was unable to command a place in the Cambridge boat. On leaving Cambridge, Bevan qualified as a doctor at St. Mary’s Hospital after which he returned to Cambridge where he joined a practice with the Olympic shot putter, Rex Woods. He maintained his contacts with the University, serving as senior treasurer of the Cambridge University Boat Club for many years.
