Rower Jutta Ploch was on the East German gold medal-winning coxed quadruple sculls crew at the 1980 Moskva Summer Olympics. In the following two years, she won silver medals at the World Championships in the coxed quadruple sculls; however, in 1983 she won the double sculls with Martina Schröter.
Nationally, Ploch won both the double and quadruple sculls every year from 1981-83. By profession, she became a graduated sports teacher and later worked as a rowing coach.
