Biography

Bernd Krauß rowed on the gold medal-winning East German eights at the 1980 Moskva Olympics. The previous year he also won the World Championship eights and came fourth in 1981. His first World Championship medal was in 1977 when he won a bronze medal in the coxless pairs with non-Olympian Ortwin Rodewald.

Domestically, Krauß won four East German national titles. By profession, he was a graduated teacher in language and literature, and later became a rowing coach.
