Biography

East German rower Uwe Mund competed at Seoul in 1988, when he finished fifth in the double sculls with Uwe Heppner. Due to the Soviet-led boycott of the 1984 Los Angeles Games, Mund could not participate. In 1982, he won the world title with the quadruple sculls and in 1983 the silver medal in the single sculls behind Peter-Michael Kolbe. In 1985, he finished fifth.

Domestically, Mund won the single sculls national title in 1981, 1983 and 1985. With the quadruple sculls, he won the title in 1983, and with the double sculls in 1988 and 1989. By profession, Mund became an insurance agent.
