German rower Willy Düskow won a bronze medal in coxless pairs at the 1908 London Olympics alongside Martin Stahnke. The Henley course at that time was so narrow that only two boats could start beside each other per race. Shortly before the Games both finished second at the German Championships. In 1910 Düskow again came second, now with non-Oylmpian Georg Wilhelm Pfältzer.
