Biography

Kurt Hoffman was a German rower who competed at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics. He was eliminated in the first round of the single sculls when he lost against future Olympic Champion Wally Kinnear from Great Britain. Hoffmann would have won six of the eight heats with the time he rowed against Kinnear, but nevertheless he was not able to advance. The same year Hoffmann won his only German national sculling title. He also became German and European Champion in the eights in 1913. During World War II Hoffmann was severely wounded by a shot into his breast. In 1928 he was a member of the German rowing delegation in Amsterdam.
