Biography

At 13-years-old, West German cox Klaus Zerta won a gold medal in the coxed pairs at the 1960 Roma Olympic Games alongside Bernhard Knubel and Heinz Renneberg. He was then the youngest German Olympic Champion ever (13 years and 283 days), and was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, the highest German sports award. Zerta later became a tennis coach. By profession, he was a construction manager at Degussa.
