Biography

Lajos Nagy was introduced to rowing in 1935. At the association level, he competed for Pannónia between 1939 and 1946, Postás in 1947, Duna EE in 1948, Vasas in 1949, and Bp. Vörös Meteor from 1950 to 1953. He won a total of five Hungarian championships in 1946, 1947, and 1950-1952 with the eights of his associations. In 1949 he also won the Hungarian championship with the coxless fours.

Nagy became a member of the Hungarian national team as a youth competitor. As part of the coxless fours he participated at the 1948 London Olympics. At the College World Championships in Budapest in 1949, he finished second as a member of the coxed pairs. Two years later in Berlin, he won a gold medal with the eights. In 1953 he participated in the European Championship in Copenhagen as a member of the Hungarian eights.

After the fall of the revolution he left Hungary in 1957 and settled in the United States.
