Biography

At the age of 12 János Petrovics was introduced to boxing in his hometown. During his career Petrovics won three Hungarian amateur championship titles, participated in the 1991 World Championships, and the 1992 Olympics, where he finished 17th in the 60 kg category. Sadly his promising career was over at the age of 24 after he was sent to prison for three months. His association immediately canceled his contract with the boxer, who had a good chance of competing for the Atlanta Olympics. After that he earned his living as a security guard and a night porter in nightclubs, but he once again ran afoul of the law. The restless boxer moved to Mexico for half a year in September 2005, where he earned a TKO victory under the stage name “Guerrero” (warrior). He ended his professional career with 10 wins and 6 losses. He fought his last professional match in December 2018 in Slovakia. In addition to boxing, Petrovics made a living from odd jobs. During such work a brick wall fell on him at a construction site, which buried him under the rubble with him dying from his injuries.
