Latino Galasso was the cox in the Canottieri Diadora of Zara eight that surprisingly won the bronze medal at the 1924 Paris Olympics. Galasso made his début with Diadora in 1919 and alternated with other coxes in the team until he was given the permanent position by coach Luigi Miller in 1921. Galasso went on to win three Italian titles and enjoyed three more podium finishes. The following year he won the Italian eights title and won a silver medal at the European Championships in Barcelona and then, in 1924, won that surprise Olympic bronze.
The Canottieri Diadora eight disbanded after the Olympic Games following the retirement of the Cattalinich brothers, and Galasso also went into retirement. During World War II he settled in Rovereto where he died in 1949, aged just 50.
