Biography

Angelo Rossetto was a member of the rowing section of the DLF Treviso club and for many years wore the azzurra jersey of the Italian national team. The most important result of his international career was at the 1969 European Championships in Austria, when he won a silver medal in the coxed pairs with the Olympic champion Primo Baran and the non-Olympian Giorgio Sajeva. They were just beaten at the finishing line by the famous Czech brothers Oldřich and Pavel Svojanovský.

Rossetto also participated in three World Championships, finishing in fourth place in 1970 in Ontario, Canada and in 1974 in Lucerne. He was 11th overall at Nottingham the following year. His stroke in all three races was Baran.

Rossetto’s only Olympic appearance was in the coxless fours at München in 1972, but it was not a good Games for the Italian boats, and Rossetto finished tenth. He passed away early in 2022 after suffering from Alzheimer’s for a few years.
