Biography

Harald Herlofson rowed as a member of the Christiania Roklub in the eight at the 1912 Olympic Games. The boat did not advance to the second round. Herlofson was the son of a Finnish father and a Norwegian mother. His brother Charles was a member of the Norwegian football squad at the 1912 Olympics. Harald never married.

Herlofson graduated from the Kristiania Technical School in 1909 as civil engineer. For a few years, he worked for the Christiania Cement Foundry before he continued his studies at the Technical University Dresden from 1914-15. After being employed by a cement plant in Leipzig, he returned to Hafslund in Norway in 1917. From 1922-26 Herlofson worked for the consulting firm of Magnus Konow and architect Sigurd Lunde in Kristiania (now Oslo). Subsequently, he lived in the United States for six years. Eventually, he established his own consulting firm in Oslo.
