Biography

Gösta Erikkson took up rowing after World War II and was selected to represent Sweden at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, where he won a silver medal in the coxed fours and just missed the podium in fourth in the eights. The previous year, he had won silver medals in both of those events at the European Championships. He also took part in the 1960 Rome Olympics, but was eliminated in round one of the coxless pairs and the round one repêchage of the coxed pairs. Domestically, he won 12 national titles, including at least one in every Olympic discipline of the era.
