Ivar Ryberg was a member of the Göteborgs RK’s eight team at the 1912 Olympics in Stockholm. They lost in the heat against Sydney Rowing Club representing Australasia. Ryberg was also a successful football player. He was capped in 1909 when Sweden lost to the English amateur team 0:7 in Hull, where he briefly played for Hull City. Nationally, he won four titles with Örgryte IS between 1905 and 1909 and one title with Göteborgs IF. During a spell in Germany, he played for SC Germania Hamburg that later merged with other clubs to become the Hamburger SV. He was also active in athletics, taking second place in discus throw in 1908 at the German Championships.
Ryberg was married to Ebba Astrid Nielsen. In 1922, his occupation is listed as assistant civil servant.
