Karl Sundholm coxed the boat of Vaxholms RF in the coxed fours at the 1912 Olympics. In the first round they lost to the eventual gold medallists from the German Ludwigshafener Ruderverein and were eliminated. Sundholm was also a successful long distance runner competing for Sundbybergs IK and Djurgårdens IF. In 1911 and 1913, he won Swedish Championship gold in 8 km cross-country running. In cross-country running he won additionally four silver and two bronze medals (individually and with the team). On the track, he placed second in the 10,000 metres in 1908. In 1951, Sundholm was awarded the Djurgårdens IF Medal of Merit in gold.
Sundholm’s father was a fisherman. He himself was a postal worker. He got married to Ally Elisabeth Eriksson in 1921 and they had two children, one son and one daughter.
