Biography

Monica Tranel Michini rowed in the eight at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and the single sculls at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Tranel Michini rowed at five World Championships, in 1993-95, 1997, and 1999, winning a gold in the eight in 1995, silver medals in the eight and four in 1994, a silver in the eight in 1999, and a bronze in the quad sculls in 1993.

In single sculls Tranel Michini was Head of the Charles Regatta Champion in 1993 and runner-up in 1995. She continued to row in that event, in the masters’ division, through 2015. A basketball and track star in high school, she began rowing at Gonzaga University. A native of Billings, Montana, she later settled in Helena, Montana.
