Biography

Lyman Perry attended the US Naval Academy at Annapolis, graduating in 1960. In 1960 the Naval Academy eight won the title at the National Association of Amateur Oarsmen (NAAO) meet, which doubled as the Olympic Trials. The Midshipmen eight placed fifth at the 1960 Olympics, breaking the US streak of winning the rowing eights, which extended from 1920-56.

Perry later attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied architecture, which became his career after he left the Navy, starting Lyman Perry Architects in Berwyn, Pennsylvania. Perry was inducted into the New England Design Hall of Fame in 2012. He also served as executive director of the Head of Schuylkill Regatta.
