Biography

Neville Holt was primarily known in Australia as a large-bore rifle shooter, but he competed at the 1948 Olympics in the small-bore event. Holt learned shooting from his father and joined the militia just prior to World War II, but never served during the war. His work in the militia allowed him to borrow guns to practice his sport shooting. After the war, he worked as an electrician in Sydney. His younger brother, John, also competed in the Olympics as a shooter. Prior to his death, Neville Holt was Australia’s oldest living Olympian.
