Biography

In sports, Wilhelm Sachsenmaier was a rifle shooter who competed at the 1952 and 1960 Olympics, participating in both small-bore events in 1952 and the free rifle and English match at the 1960 Olympics. His best Olympic finish was 16th in the free rifle at Roma.

Sachsenmaier was better known as a biochemist and cancer researcher. He was a professor on the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Innsbruck, and also served at the Institute for Biochemistry and Experimental Cancer Research. Sachsenmaier was also a member of the Board of Austrian Cancer Aid in the Tyrol.
