Biography

Lajos Börzsönyi was a pistol shooter for the Budapest Civilian Shooting Association, the Honvéd Officer Fencing Club, Partizán SC, and then the Budapest Honvéd. Between 1940 and 1958 he won five individual and 18 team championship titles. In 1950-1951 he also won the team championship in the winter pentathlon.

Between 1938 and 1956 he was a member of the national team 16 times. He competed in two events at the 1948 London Olympics, finishing seventh in the rapid-fire pistol and 13th in the free pistol. In 1939 he was a member of the Hungarian automatic sports pistol team that won the Lucerne World Championship and, 16 years later, he won two bronze medals and finished fifth in the team competition at the European Championship in Bucharest. He graduated from medical school and worked as a traumatologist. He died as a result of a car accident.
