Born in Somalia and raised in an environment completely alien to Italian culture, Lino Cerati came to Italy at the age of 18. The language barrier posed a challenge, but his determination to follow in his brother Franco’s footsteps led him to pursue a career in plumbing and heating.
As a sports shooter, Cerati’s specialist event was running target shooting. He started his career in 1962 and won over 40 Italian international caps. Despite an impressive collection of medals and trophies, Cerati’s proudest moment was appearing at the 1976 Montréal Olympics.
Awarded a Cavaliere dello Sport (Knight of Sport) in 2019, Cerati was also the star of a special evening organised by Panathlon Cremona and dedicated to those champions who played a significant part in the history of running target shooting.
Cerati was an entrepreneur and, along with his brother Franco was the co-founder of Aris, a bathroom furniture and plumbing company. Thanks to both his sport and love of exploring, Cerati was able to travel the world.
