Chen An-Hu was born in Beijing, but fled to Taiwan during the Civil War in China. He eventually took up sport shooting and came to represent his new nation at an international level in this sport, most notably at the 1960 Rome Olympics, where he was 47th in the rapid-fire pistol, 25 metres, event. By career he worked as an engineer with Combined Logistics Command and became known as an expert in ballistics. He was still being called upon for investigations using his technical knowledge into his 80s, well after his official retirement, including for the attempted assassination of the Taiwanese President in 2004.
